Emerging Technologies in Defence
As the use of emerging technologies increases within the defence industry and engineering design has started to focus more on user-centred design, Cambridge Electronic Industries’ custom design service can offer unique innovative products to complete your design interconnectivity. From smaller custom Coaxial Connectors to fit into small spaces to larger multiway micro connector cable assemblies, we are able to offer bespoke solutions use in demanding conditions, whether it be extreme temperatures, vibration, or shock, which are requirements for the defence sector.
Drone Defence Systems
Drone defence systems have been in the news in recent years for stopping attacks on major airports. This type of equipment is being used not only in the military and civil defence systems to stop acts of terrorism and drug smuggling, but also in commercial defence from attacks on airports and invasion of privacy and security intrusion. The equipment works by tracking and inhibiting RF signals, to bring the drone back to ground.
Head-Mounted Display Systems
Being skilled in aerial combat is no longer enough to take on the world with tactical flying. With the use of head mounted display systems the pilot has information including flight data, displays of any threats, off sight target engagement and target acquisition displayed directly into their field of vision within their flight helmet. This offers the pilot the highest level of situational awareness.
Surveillance Systems
Independent sight systems are being fitted on armoured vehicles and Naval boats. This gyro stabilised or pan and tilt subsystems provide automatic target tracking operations as well as thermal cameras, day and night cameras and laser range finders. The systems can be integrated with weaponry systems and offer simulation of the results of the defence option chosen to improve the effectiveness and directness of tactical force.
